This month Young’s has re-launched its famous Wholetail breaded scampi, highlighting a new ‘Low in Saturated Fat’ proposition and also introducing two new variants: Young’s Wholetail Jumbo Scampi and Wholetail Jumbo Scampi with a Hint of Lemon.
The new Jumbo products are‘bigger bite’ scampi which is expected to be popular with existing Scampi aficionados. Young’s has also significantly reduced the range’s saturated fat content to just 1.3% and by highlighting this on front of pack expects to attract new scampi consumers. The products oven bake from frozen in just 15 minutes.
Young’s Wholetail scampi is made from whole langoustine tails, responsibly caught off the west coast of Scotland and in the Irish Sea.
Charlotte Broughton of Young’s commented, “As the original inventor of Scampi Young’s has always led the market for this product. Whilst our Wholetail Scampi is just 1.3% saturated fat, we haven’t compromised on taste – it still has the crisp golden crumb and delicate Scampi flavour that we know our consumers love.”
Since it was first introduced in 1946 scampi has become firmly established as one of Britain’s favourite seafood dishes. The frozen scampi market is now worth £55M a year and is showing strong growth – up 10% year on year.*
Young’s Wholetail Jumbo Scampi and Wholetail Jumbo Scampi with a Hint of Lemon are available in 240g packs (serving two), RRP £4.99. They are both widely available in national retailers from this month.**
The other product in the range is Young’s standard Wholetail Scampi, which is available in 250g packs at RRP £3.99, nationally available.
